Do you know what feeds your soul? I ask this question because it is so abundantly clear these days where my soul is fed.
If you’ve noticed lately, I’ve been posting more beach pictures on my facebook fanpage along with the daily musing. I’ve been staying at our beach condo more frequently because we are renovating our home. And it’s been more than difficult to feel a peace in a cloud of dust, loud hammering walls and workmen in and out of the house! So I decided to embrace the opportunity and stay at our family condo which overlooks the ocean – it’s truly a gift and a blessing. I never tire of driving down A1A along the shoreline to our place. Watching as the waves roll into the shore in their different hues of blues and greens still thrills me!
Nearly a decade ago, I felt a strong sensation to reconnect to the ocean and so my husband and I searched for the perfect weekend get-away spot. And we absolutely love it!
Even when we come for just one night, it’s enough time to feel like we’ve gotten away, feel refreshed, heal in the sea air, and reconnect with nature as we walk miles down the beach with of cool sand underfoot. It is a total blessing to have this gift we feel so strongly about. It’s a total joy when our adult children and grandchildren come down and we pile them all together for some real family bonding time! So much love, sounds of laughter and joy fills the air!
Since the renovation, I now find that driving down for a day of peaceful writing also fuels my soul. I remember this feeling growing up in Virginia Beach when I practically lived at the beach during the summer months. I would drive down in my car after a full day of high school to simply sit on the beach and contemplate life.
It also was the backdrop for many wonderful memories I have playing with my children on the beach when I moved to Florida and started a family. Nothing was more enjoyable than picking them up after school with a loaded car of beach toys and our dog, and stopping by the grocery store to stock up on vacation treats for the first weekend of summer visits! They could each pick a new boogie board or castle building set for the summer months to come!
Spirit is here! I feel it, sense it and see it in every curl of a wave, each diamond of light reflected off the water, and in the sound of each wave as it connects over and over again with its shoreline.
Where does your soul gravitate towards? Do you go there often to feed and nurture its essence?
