Can peace be accessed through joy and vice versa? If you think about this for a minute, it becomes clear that when you are in a joyful state, there are no feelings of angst or upset. As a by-product, the only thing you can feel is that of being in a peaceful nature.
When you are at a peaceful place and have just finished perhaps meditating, taking a long bath or a massage, what is the feeling you have other than peacefulness? Most people would say joy.
How wonderful that these two feelings are so interchangeable. You may go from one to the other easily and effortlessly. Why then are these not dominant feelings in your life? Why are the feelings of worry, tension, upset, stress, concern and others of a similar nature taking precedent? Is it because we allow more space and time for them? We allow them to take dominance in our body, mind and soul, and this becomes our familiar state of being.
Try an experiment. Begin each day this week by consciously only holding space for peace and joy. Allow for no other. As soon as you have any other feeling, actively do something that will allow only peace and joy to come rushing back.
Let me know what things you did to take you back to peace and joy instantly! Is it easier than you thought it would be to hold only this space for peace and joy on a daily basis?
