It is only until you have experienced sadness that you are able to appreciate the feeling of joy. It is the yin and yang, the black and the white, the ups and downs of the human condition that make us feel the pain and pleasure of such emotions.
If you were to have known joy your entire life it would lose the special feeling you have when you connect with it. This is why sadness is to be appreciated as well. Whatever or wherever your sadness comes from, it is to be welcomed. You have chosen this life on earth for many reasons, but certainly one of them is to experience all the human emotions that come from this place.
Sadness in relationships allows you to feel the exquisite joy of meeting the love of your life. Sadness of a death or transition as I call it allows you to be ever so thankful for the joyfulness of the lives that are close to you as well as your own. Sadness of a tragedy only heightens the joy of a triumph.
What you experience from this emotion is so important to feel and process. You need to emote this feeling of sadness so that you may process it and not get bogged down in angst. Once you have accomplished this, the sweetness of the joy you will feel can only be compared to the beauty and love of the angels that watch over you in this lifetime.
