What are spiritual gifts? I see them as gifts that are received from spirit. That may sound redundant, but many people sometimes don’t recognize which gifts they are! The question then becomes “how do I recognize these gifts and why do I need to do that?”
You receive so many gifts in your life on a daily and even hourly basis. Do you recognize them or have they become so ingrained in your life that there doesn’t seem to be anything special about them anymore? Have you started taking them for granted and if so, how are you able to discern what gifts are from spirit and which aren’t?
Let’s just talk about some of the everyday gifts we have become so accustomed to having easily and effortlessly!
What are some of our physical gifts?Because of the daily gifts of sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste, we tend to not even notice how absolutely extraordinary it is to have them. It is only when something goes awry in one of these areas that we step back and take note of the gift that is no longer there.
I certainly know that when I was younger, I took the gift of ease of movement and my ability to stoop, bend, run and leap for granted. It was only when I developed osteoarthritis in my left hip and was immobilized for four years that I realized what a blessing the gift of movement is. Having a new hip put in two years ago has given me back this gift of movement and independence. I can do anything and everything again! Now, I stop and give thanks frequently for this ease of movement and my awareness that there is no pain at all! It is truly such a gift for which I am so grateful.
What are some of our emotional gifts? Recognizing your emotional gifts of being at peace, having patience, tolerance, compassion, unconditional love and feeling an ability to serve others are enormous gifts in life. Being able to show joy, love and laughter is a gift that many only recognize once they can no longer feel these things. Recovering from depression, grief, divorce, illness or from any other life issue brings this element of awareness.
What are some of our spiritual gifts? Having the gift to hear your inner voice and receive guidance through meditation is a spiritual blessing for which many are eternally grateful for. Individuals practice meditation for many years and are not able to hear guidance clearly. When it appears and is heard in abundance, it is clearly appreciated.
I would need another whole post just to begin to describe the spiritual gifts from nature that are given over and over again through every minute of every day your whole lifetime! An incredible consistent blessing!
What is the key to seeing spirit’s gifts? Are you unable to recognize the gifts placed in your life until either they’re either taken away from you or they weren’t there in the first place and now they are?
Perhaps you need to recognize what you are most thankful for and give thanks for all the spiritual gifts that are clearly present in your life. Can you remember the birth of your first child as you eagerly counted each finger and toe and gave a big sigh of relief when all the organs were fully functioning?
We don’t have to wait for when these gifts aren’t present any longer. Sit down within the silence and give thanks for all that you have now. For any other gifts you wish to receive, simply ask. Recognize that which you are missing, and invite it to be a part of you. It is such a simple exercise for which you will receive multiple blessings in return. This was actually the title of my chapter that was published earlier this year in the book, “The Thought That Changed My Life Forever.” It has had an enormous impact in the literary world and I am so grateful that my chapter titled, “Ask And You Will Receive” was asked to be part of 52 other international authors that contributed to it!
Let me know when you receive it. Whether it is a physical, emotional or mental gift, trust that it all comes from spirit and is ready to slip into your life right now!
