When I think of being in a peaceful state, I think of slowing down. I envision sitting on a bench someplace out in nature with merely the backdrop of beautiful trees and a peaceful stream at the peak of a mountain or sitting by the ocean where only the waves lapping at my feet slowing down the process to my way back to peace.
Actually, the slower the process IS the better. The more quiet and serene of a setting I embrace, the more peaceful my body, mind and soul becomes. As I am immersed into these settings and become one with the sand, the ocean, the leaves on the trees, and the breeze passing by, I feel at peace. The more my pulse slows down in meditation or prayer, the more peaceful I become.
When you hear the soulful stirrings from the notes of songwriters that are also tuned into spirit, it brings a peaceful and joyous state of being. Reading poetry or inspirational words of those that have also slowed down enough to hear spirit brings you a silent knowing and acknowledgment of its presence.
No, I don’t want to find peace quickly. I want to stretch it out as much as I can and find it deliciously slowly. And then it is mine to keep for eternity.
Where will you choose to find peace slowly this day?
